On the Alternative Use of Verse and Prose in Hamlet

[Abstract]As a master in language, William Shakespeare is proficient in using verse and prose alternatively in his tragedies and come- dies, which is regarded as the key to his success in literature by some critics. In this thesis, I would like to analyze the three criteria for the alternation of verse and prose in Hamlet, in which a discussion of functions of the alternation will be included
